The Infernal Devices: Clockwork Prince

Cassandra Clare is one of my all time favourite authors. The Bane Chronicles, The Mortal Instruments, Lady Midnight -- I love everything she's ever written, and am eagerly awaiting the publication of Lord of Shadows, The Dark Artifices book 2, set to hit the shelves on the 23rd of May, 2017. About a month ago, I finished reading the first book in The Infernal Devices series -- and finally (yes, finally!) got round to reading Clockwork Prince.

The second book in The Mortal Instruments trilogy is just as action packed as the first (and all around amazing; you can't really expect any less coming from Cassandra Clare). A continuation of Clockwork Angel, it develops the story of Tessa Gray even further, and delves deeper into the feelings she holds towards the cold yet alluring Will, and the sweet, compassionate Jem.

As well as figuring out the puzzles of own heart (and her own identity), she must continue with her relentless pursue of the Magister -- the Magister, who continues to torment her with his clockwork creatures and network of spies, and her brother, Nate.

With the possibility of war waging, and the future of the Institue hanging in the balance, she must do everything in her power to stop him from getting what he wants, regardless of what it may cost.

Favourite quotes:

'"I will probably be reborn as a slug that someone salts."'

'Agony stripped so raw was not meant for her eyes.'

'"You cannot buy or drug or dream your way out of pain."'

Favourite character:

Will, Jem and Tessa are the most badass gang of protagonists in the history of the universe . . . but my favourite character is still Will Herondale, of course. He's such a sass master (and extremely hot). He also loves reading books, so that's a huge bonus. And can we just take a moment to appreciate how beautiful the book cover is?

3 words to describe the book:

Action packed, magical, interesting (and also kind of soul crushing).

If you've never read The Infernal Devices, or any Cassandra Clare book for that matter, stop what you're doing and 1) question your life choices, and 2) go to her website, which you can find by clicking here. You'll thank me later (even if buying her books results in a low bank balance).
